Thinkdig’s Weblog

I’m Katie, a graphic designer who mostly somersaults through life. My blog is all about things that inspire me – be it art, design, or other snippets i find along the way.

whimsical works

Pages from Maira Kalman’s new book, the Principles of Uncertainty.

It’s an amazing book taken from Kalman’s column in The NewYorker. In the book, her whimsical paintings are woven together with existential questions about identity and happiness. Kalman is an illustrator, author, and designer and along with 12 children’s books, has done covers for The NewYorker, fabric for Isaac Mizrahi and accessories for Kate Spade. I love it! To see more about this wise, witty and slightly off-kilter woman click here to hear her speak at the TED conference and here for a short but totally worthwhile documentary about her.

P.S. Her daughter’s name is Bodoni.
